What is the
Cool CAP?
The Cool Canteens Accreditation
Program (Cool CAP) works with school communities to meet the guidelines of the Tasmanian
School Canteen Handbook. The bronze, silver or gold levels of accreditation enables
schools to develop their health promoting canteen over time and to the standard they
choose.
During these phases a school will make significant improvements to menu choices and marketing,
product inclusion, food safety standards and links to the curriculum.

A whole school approach
is necessary for successful implementation and sustainability of the
Cool CAP. Schools in the Cool CAP process are supported with professional
development opportunities for canteen staff and assistance to implement
the program initially.
The
Hillcrest Primary School Canteen Manager Glenys Nicholls is working
for the TSCA to support those schools in the North and North West working
towards canteen accreditation. She can be contacted on Ph: (03) 6424
