  Nutrition in Child Care

Good nutrition is very important for the development and growth of young children. Childcare centres have an important role to play in helping to develop good eating habits in young children. They can do this by providing a variety of foods for children to taste and enjoy. Staff can teach children healthy attitudes to food and eating by being consistent with positive messages about food and nutrition. Start Right Eat Right - Tasmania is a joint initiative between Lady Gowrie, the Community Nutrition Unit

Parents use these checklists to find out if your child's lunchbox is adequate for your child while they are in child care.

  1. Lunch box checklist (nut free)
  2. Ideas for increasing essential food groups in the lunch box
