HOT Criteria |
The
HOT Award accredits takeaways, cafes, restaurants, kiosks,
worksite canteens and private caterers that meet 3 criteria:

Be
assured that your food is prepared safely and in a hygienic
manner.
All
staff have basic food handler training
The
business has achieved FoodSafe or
equivalent (as a minimum). This includes having practices in
place which achieve safe food, such as temperature monitoring,
ongoing staff training, comprehensive cleaning, proper stock
rotation and safe food handling.
*FoodSafeTM is
a Food Handler Training Program developed by the Australian
Institute of Environmental Health.

Accredited Businesses provide smoke-free indoor dining.
Note:
The Public Health Amendment (Smoke-Free Areas) Act 2001 now
means that most food outlets will automatically meet the HOT
smoke-free criteria. The Smoke-Free Areas Act makes it unlawful
to smoke in most enclosed public places and workplaces, with
some limited exceptions.
